About Rachel
My favorite things in the world are teaching, my dog, cooking a great meal, and coffee coffee coffee! I'm a huge lover of reading (my favorite is historical fiction), writing poetry, and practicing my Spanish. I teach 7th graders at a public school on the East Coast, so nothing you throw at me will shock me. In fact, I enjoy a good laugh and will always try to create a warm, welcoming environment while we get the job done.

I’m a certified English and ESL teacher with experience teaching students from secondary school through university. As a bilingual Spanish-English educator, I specialize in supporting multilingual learners and creating a safe, encouraging space where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and taking academic risks. Each session begins with a clear learning objective we set together, followed by an actionable plan. I use a gradual release model of instruction: we start with controlled activities where I explicitly model the skill, move into guided activities where you begin to try the skill with my support, and then transition to independent activities where you apply what you’ve learned on your own to build mastery. If you're an ESL student, I can assess your proficiency and tailor instruction to focus on areas like pronunciation, syntax, writing, or academic vocabulary. If you're seeking help with traditional English instruction, I offer support with paragraph and essay structure, academic writing, APA formatting, and proofreading. My goal is always to meet you where you are and help you build confidence and competence through thoughtful, student-centered instruction!
