About Miiko
I am an American English teacher with more than 20 years of teaching experience. I went into teaching because I genuinely care about students, and I have always loved literature.
I was trained at San Francisco State University, where I learned the importance of student-centered teaching and listening carefully to each student’s needs.
I also taught the IGCSE curriculum in Europe for 10 years, which gave me strong experience in helping students succeed in a rigorous academic setting.
From a young age, I was told that I had a gift for writing, which is one of the reasons I was drawn to English literature. I am also an avid reader, and I bring that passion into my teaching.

My lessons are centered around you. I begin by listening carefully and understanding your needs, goals, and current level. Once I know where you are and where you want to go, I design lessons that are clear, focused, and tailored to help you make real progress.
I use a variety of techniques in each lesson to keep you engaged and moving forward. Whether you need help with writing, reading comprehension, literature, grammar, or building confidence in English, I will shape the lesson around what will help you most.
I do not believe in talking at students. I believe in working with them. You will be actively involved in the learning process, and I will guide, support, and challenge you along the way.
I also take careful notes so that each lesson builds on the one before it. This creates continuity and helps you reach your goals.
