About Hamid
I have a PhD in chemistry and several years experience of teaching in different settings. I now specialise in communicating evidence in science. I am experienced in practical, organic, inorganic and physical chemistry. I am an experienced communicator and have previously tutored at IGCSE and GCSE. I have experience of teaching in a school as part of my degree, and of working with children of different ages in general.

I always teach personalised lessons. My approach is to understand as much as possible about the pupil's needs before I begin. I start with a short discussion with the pupil about their present grade, target grade, preferred learning styles, and aspects of the curriculum that we should cover.
I begin each class by going through learning objectives to ground the pupil's learning, and I then teach using my own Powerpoint slides, which include text, diagrams, videos and worked examples. After this, I go through end-of-topic questions with the pupil (which we do together), referring back to the lesson's learning objectives. I follow up the lesson with exam-style homework questions (which I usually ask the pupil to do under exam conditions in their own time). I find that this approach maximises learning by using many different media and building up the pupil's knowledge and confidence until they can cover exam-style questions on their own.
Throughout my teaching, I focus on revision skills and exam techniques because this is where even the most capable and diligent pupils can slip up.

Specifics on rates:
I charge the same rate for all ages and qualification levels, and I collect payment at the start of a block of lessons.
If the student cancels the lesson with less than 24 hours notice, I retain the payment for that lesson. If I cancel the lesson, I do not retain the payment.
