About Neil
I'm Neil, founder of Small Wins Learning, an experienced Learning Mentor, education practitioner and children's author. My experience spans primary, secondary and alternative provision, including Riverside PRU, as well as pastoral work as a Student Support Manager. I trained as a Thrive Licensed Practitioner for Adolescence and hold Level 2 qualifications in Counselling Skills and Awareness of Mental Health Problems. I also hold an Enhanced DBS and take a calm, respectful and practical approach that helps children feel safe to try, make mistakes and progress. Outside tutoring, I lead Worcester Men Walking and Talking, reflecting my wider commitment to confidence and wellbeing.

I provide calm, practical one-to-one English, reading, spelling and literacy support tailored to each learner. Sessions last 45 minutes and use clear explanations, manageable steps, engaging activities and plenty of encouragement to build skills and confidence. I support children from Reception to Year 6, with English support available through Year 8. My experience as a Learning Mentor spans primary, secondary and alternative provision, including Riverside PRU. I trained as a Thrive Licensed Practitioner for Adolescence and hold Level 2 qualifications in Counselling Skills and Awareness of Mental Health Problems, as well as an Enhanced DBS.
