About Douglas
I am an experienced tutor for A level and GCSE maths and physics. I have tutored foundation GCSE all the way to graduate courses at Oxford, although my specialism is A level maths and physics. I have 40 5★ lesson reviews on the MyTutor website and one recent student received three 9s in maths, further maths and physics GCSEs. I was a scout leader for several years, regularly volunteer with a community group involving young people, and have a recent enhanced DBS check.

I have a masters in theoretical physics, worked as a scientist for several years before starting a physics PhD.
I aim to teach understanding of concepts rather than simply memorising techniques - it's more satisfying (and easier to remember) when you really know how something works! Maths and physics are all around us and whenever possible I try to relate the lessons to our day-to-day life.
For online lessons I use a graphics tablet and OneNote over Zoom so it's as close to writing on paper as possible, and I send you a PDF of the lesson as soon as it's done.
