About Mikaela
I'm Mikaela, a current Oxford master's student specializing in English, linguistics and languages, and the humanities/social sciences as a whole, with several years of experience helping students become more confident learners. My academic background is interdisciplinary: I've studied everything from language analysis and migration studies to political theory and advanced writing, and I bring that breadth into my teaching. It allows me to explain challenging ideas clearly, connect concepts across subjects, and tailor my approach to the needs of each student. As an International Baccalaureate / Advanced Placement graduate myself, I understand the pressure students feel and the specific expectations of these assessments. I've supported students with everything from essay structure and commentary techniques to Extended Essays, TOK, and oral exam preparation. I'm also trained in Arabic and linguistics at a high academic level, which gives me a strong foundation for teaching language skills, phonetics, grammar, and writing with clarity and precision. Students and parents often tell me that I'm kind, approachable, organized, and genuinely invested in their progress.
