About Micaela
I'm a secondary science teacher with several years of tutoring experience. I began tutoring in high school, and gained valuable experience tutoring in Princeton while completing my undergraduate degree in biology. Since then, I've received my masters in education and focused on teaching 9th and 11th grade. My passion for youth development and education has led me to volunteer with children of all ages and has allowed me the opportunity to tutoring English, Spanish, Math, and Science. I originally started tutoring English in high school to elementary school kids as a volunteer opportunity. During all four years of college, I worked with a family in Princeton to tutor their three students in every subject. This opportunity allowed me to learn a lot about youth development and what it requires to encourage and support students that come with a different skill sets.
I have a undergraduate degree in biology from Rider University and a graduate degree in Urban Education from University of Denver. These degrees have allowed me to teach high school biology and physics, as well as tutor students in general education.

Creating a relationship in order to understand their motivations, their strengths, and where they need support is key to teaching. Because of this, I like to focus on getting to know the student the first couple of weeks. Once our relationship is strong, building a routine with the appropriate supports is my next step. I want to ensure that I am personalizing my tutoring in oder to support my students to reach their goals!
