About Lauren
I firmly believe that being able to teach a subject demonstrates a full understanding of the material. Teaching also keeps the material fresh, so not only is tutoring helpful for the student but it benefits the teacher as well.
I am a recent graduate from Quinnipiac University with a BS in Biology. I am also currently enrolled in a full-time Masters program in Molecular and Cellular Biology. I have studied in groups throughout my college career with individuals that learn differently. I have also tutored some students while in high school to help with regents preparations.

When working with a new student I believe it is important to establish some common ground, devise a plan that works for the student and continue to develop a strategic and effective study plan centralized around the student's needs.
I have worked with many kinds of learners. Some people are visual learners while some learn the information better by just carrying out a conversation on the topic. Working with each student individually allows for the delivery to be unique to them.
I would look for someone that you find personable, trustworthy, and something you would like as a friend. This makes the sessions fun, interesting and motivating.
Recently, in light of the pandemic, the rollout of the first mRNA vaccines has been an incredible advancement in the field of biology. The distribution of vaccines is allowing for a sense of normalcy to return to society.

When looking for a tutor it is important to have an idea of what kind of learner you are and to communicate those for efficient learning. It is also helpful to determine the topics/chapters you struggled the most with as this allows for a more focused session.
