About Marissa
I am currently a PhD student studying Neuroscience at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I hold a bachelors degree in biology and am looking to tutor Biology and AP Biology for highschool and college students. My undergraduate and graduate coursework encompasses cell biology, genetics, evolutionary biology, biochemistry, developmental biology, plant pathology, general chemistry I and II, organic chemistry I and II, neurobiology, cell and molecular neuroscience, systems neuroscience, and neuroanatomy.
I have ample experience working with children as well as extensive experience as a teaching assistant in college level biology and chemistry courses. My main goal is to address challenges often faced by students in science cources and use my experiences to help students succeed.
As a tutor, I love seeing students reach their potential and helping them understand the presented material while also boosting their confidence in the subject. I understand there are different learning methdos and will work with students to uncover what works best for them, individually.
