About Carly
I am currently an upper division biology student with an associates degree at MTSU who tutors biology students of any level. I love teaching students information they dont know about science. I know biology is a bit hard to understand, but I can help teach biology in a way in which you can process it easier. I am very passionate about biology and especially ecology. I have goals to earn my PhD in biology and work abroad at wildlife reserves.
Teaching students to find love for Biology is the most rewarding thing for me. It is one thing to memorize the information and write it down on a test, but it's another thing to really understand the complexity and wonders of Biology.
It began when I would hold study groups at school for courses others were struggling in that I was proficient in. Doing that developed into a love for helping others learn to love biology.
Currently holding an associates degree in Biology at MTSU. I have experience in research projects at the graduate level and experience in uppder division courses in biology.

Initially, I like to go over the stuff the student is currently working on and see what they understand about the topic in order to help them with what they dont understand. Ill go over the basics of said topic until the topic is understood at a conceptual level, as i find this to be much more enriching to the learning process and allows the student to take in the harder information a lot more effeciently.
I have worked with a broad range of students. From those with little to no knowledge in a course, to those who know a vast amount of information but wish to enrich the knowledge they know.
Be willing to learn the basics first. Even if you think you know them, be open to truly understanding the concepts of the area. Understanding the basic concepts opens up a whole new view on the harder information.
Last year in my second semester and I created a study group for an upper division biology final. This group consisted of 10 students and I created them a 22 page study guide and helped them understand the curriculum. Out of the 10 students, only one scored below an A.

The price of my lessons depend upon the difficulty level of the course. I would charge less for middle school/high school level courses and possibly a bit more for harder college courses. I do not have a set payment and prefer working with my students and family about a price that is good for them. I will work with what my students can afford, since I believe no one should be barred from education due to monetary status.
