About Nicole
I come from a family in which English was always the second language. I have always taught family members and friends how to speak more fluently in English. I noticed how happy they got when they finally understood a word or phrase and that just inspired me to want to do this for a career.
Yo vine de una familia en la cual ingles siempre era el segundo idioma. Yo siempre le he enseñado a mis familiares y amistades como hablar ingles mejor. Yo me di cuenta lo felices que se ponían cuando pudieron entender una palabra en ingles o cuando decían una palabra bien. Viendo esas reacciones me dio el ánimo para querer hacer esto como un trabajo.
I will begin studying Bilingual Elementary Education this fall. I already have work experience as an ESL tutor for all ages, a reading/writing tutor for grades K-6, a Spanish tutor for all ages, and an elementary math tutor.

Typically, I like to meet them first and give them a little assessment of what they already know. Once I see the assessment, I can figure out what areas need more improvement than others. As we learn, I try to adapt to the student's learning needs as well. If a student works better with a game, then I will try to turn the lesson into a game. However, if a student has a hard time focusing in general, I will try my best to adjust my lessons to them and keep them focused.
I have worked with autistic students, students with ADHD/ADD, and neurotypical students as well. I normally work with younger kids, however, every once in a while I get an adult who would love to learn more English or even learn Spanish.
I would advise the student to be open. I work best when my students are honest about how they feel about a topic. Make sure to reach out when you are struggling and be sure to let me know when you feel successful too! I will be so happy whether you let me know you need more help or if you tell me that you are doing better!
