About Nicole
**Because of COVID-19 I am only offering online tutoring. However, once it is possible, I am open to conducting in-person sessions with students who live in (or are willing to travel to) the Downtown Brooklyn area.**
I am a recent law school graduate looking to begin tutoring students in English and writing.
I earned my B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College with a concentration in Creative Writing and Philosophy, as well as an M.S. from NYU in Publishing and Digital Media. I recently graduated cum laude from New York Law School and I'm currently employed as a law clerk for a Judge at the Kings County Supreme Court, Civil Term. Before practicing law, I worked as an editorial assistant at the literary non-profit Poets & Writers, and as a freelance editor for Rolling Stone Magazine.
While I do not have any formal tutoring experience, I have several years of professional experience in editing and proofreading, as well as many years of helping friends and family with various assignments and compositions.
Writing is so often viewed as a solitary activity, but some of the best progress is made when you're bouncing ideas off another person or receiving feedback about something you're working on. As a student, I've had the benefit of working closely with professors and mentors to overcome my stumbling blocks and develop solid skills in comprehension and composition.
If you hire me as a tutor I will work closely with the student to help them confidently approach their writing assignments and develop strategies to utilize in their coursework and beyond.
