About Elizabeth
I delight in sharing my love of reading, writing and the arts with my students! With guidance and practice, everyone can learn how to communicate more effectively, which is an important life skill. Likewise, exceptional reading leads to exceptional learning.
I have a year of teaching experience with students K-12, two years of experience homeschooling my three daughters, and 14 years of experience writing and editing professionally for an array of audiences, styles and voices.
I offer teaching and tutoring for kids K-12 in all aspects of writing, reading and communicating, and I offer tutoring in all subjects for kids K-5. I also love the chance to inspire creativity in my students through music and the arts!
I earned my teaching certificate through Texas Teachers of Tomorrow and my bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas' William Allen White School of Journalism.
I live with my husband, three daughters and two very sweet dogs (Winnie and Roo) in Cedar Park, Texas.
I love the "aha!" moments in learning, and I also love it when a student realizes she's able to do something that originally seemed impossible. I also believe in the unlimited power of education to help us individually and collectively acheive our goals. It's exciting to be part of the solution.
After my three kids started school full-time in 2018, I returned to my marketing career as a content manager for MOPS Intl., where I led marketing initiatives to connect and encourage moms around the world. After several months, I realized I greatly missed kids … my kids, but also all kids. Before joining MOPS, I was incredibly involved in serving and leading schools and youth organizations for 10+ years. From leading Girl Scouts and 4-H to serving on a school board or chairing committees, I immensely enjoyed being an integral part of the educational community.
When I realized how much I missed kids and schools, I resigned my position at MOPS and began substitute teaching as a way of exploring if I’d like to become a full-time teacher. I enjoyed the experience so much that I earned my teaching certificate through Texas Teachers.
I have a year of teaching experience with students K-12, two years of experience homeschooling my three daughters, and 14 years of experience writing and editing professionally for an array of audiences, styles and voices.
I also wrote and illustrated a book to teach kids about cancer called "The Puddle Jumper's Guide to Kicking Cancer," which is available on amazon.com.

I'd meet with the parents and student to review their background and goals and develop a plan. This is a great chance us to get to know each other. Forming close relationships with my students and parents is a top priority for me.
I've worked with kids in grades K-12 in both public and private schools. I love working with a variety of students from diverse backgrounds.
I'd ask to see writing samples. A great writing teacher must first be a great writer. I'd also book one lesson first to make sure it's a good fit before committing to several sessions.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are my personal goals? What do I need to accomplish to acheive my goals? What are the in-between "baby steps" I need to accomplish? What do I need to know in order to accomplish these "baby steps?" What skills do I need to learn? What are my growth areas?
