About Sam
Hello! I'm Sam, a political science and finance student at the University of Notre Dame. In over 7 years of tutoring, I've worked with hundreds of students in AP US, World, and European history. For as long as I can remember, I've been passionate about history, and I relish the opportunity to help a student love it as I do.
My students' AP scores and class grades are consistently the best on SuperProf, and giving students the gold standard of support is my main priority.
If you're looking for guaranteed grade improvement and AP success, you've found it.
In the 2025 testing cycle, 100% of my 28 students across all platforms scored 5/5 on their AP history exams. My college application clients have earned places at Ivy League universities. Your student can be one of them.
What makes my students the most successful on SuperProf in 2025?
A lesson with me isn't just more regular class time with normal career teachers, it's transformational and top-tier review to turn history from being a problem class that you worry about into something a student thrives in.
What students walk away with:
- Effective historical writing organization for the DBQ, LEQ, and SAQs on AP History exams from the perspective of someone who championed all of them, and successful writing skills for any general history course.
- Study and learning skills honed by an education at one of America's finest elite research universities.
- A successful AP student's valuable point of view on the AP process, an approach that has helped hundreds of students get 5's.
- Detailed feedback on writing and essays tailored to what AP graders want.
- Experience in working with students both who have recently immigrated to the US, and students with special learning needs.
- 24/7 call and text response availability at all times.
I got started teaching my friends freshmen year in Geography, and I realized I could help other out with similar material that I enjoyed.
I'm an AP Scholar with Distinction and have taken several college-level history, economics, and law classes outside of normal high school classes.

We usually begin by discussing what the student's objectives are, then planning how to accomplish them within whataver the student's timeframe is.
I've worked with students ranging from eighth grade to college seniors, from 14 to 52 years old.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should decide what amount of time works best for them and what specifically do they need help with. It helps to know what students need and how to provide it.

Sam does a great job explaining difficult concepts, in part due to the way he presents information, but also largely due to his high level of expertise. I am studying for AP exams right now, and he is super understanding and able to clarify any last minute questions or hesitancies I might have. I definitely recommend trying a lesson with him!
My children were having difficulty in European History. Sam spent four lessons with them and their grades improved. He was generous with his time and remains a close family friend even after my children graduated.
I’ve known Sam for years and I’ll keep working with him as long as I’m taking a history class. I haven’t dropped below a 96 in three years thanks to him.
Sam goes above and beyond to ensure students succeed. My daughter is much more confident with history after working with Sam. He’s absolutely worth it. He was super transparent with me about her studies and put in extra time to make sure she was doing well.
Sam is incredibly knowledgeable, especially when it comes to history. More importantly, he truly cares about the success of his students and will work with their schedules to ensure they receive the help they need. Sam is very passionate which makes the topics more interesting and memorable. highly recommend!

Sam Marchand was an extremely good communicator and had very well thought out study plans for me. He successfully got me from a starting score of 1440 to an ending score of 1580. I would, without hesitation, work with him again.
He was very detailed and explains in a way I understand better. Very good!
He made me do much better in AP World History. My grade went from a 74 to a 96.
