About Kristy
I'm here to help students develop a love of learning with my main skill set focused on vocabulary, spelling and literature. The purpose of education is to build a strong foundation on curiosity and then layer upon layer develop the skills needed to pursue lifelong learning, questioning, and thinking.
Watching a student come to understand what they needed help with. It is an added bonus when they are really excited about their new knowledge and want to learn more.
During my years as a grad student and then putting together lessons for my son

Figure out where they are in the learning process, what are their strengths and what needs practice. I like to build up confidence and encouragement so that when there is a moment of difficulty with the material they know that they are capable of working through it.

Choose a tutor that understands what goals you need to reach. Specifically request what skill set the tutor needs to get to that goal.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think children are intuitive and will know how to formulate what they need in their own individual way. However, I believe it is more my job to observe and note where attention needs to go and create a way that works for the student to meet his/her needs.
