About Zoe
Hello there! My name is Zoe, and it's a pleasure to meet you! I've helped teach English and grammar in American public school systems as a paraprofessional for half a year (I was certified to be a substitute paraprofessional in NJ), I've tutored grade level and adult students in math and English at Huntington Learning Center for a year, and I've coordinated activities at a summer camp for children and teenagers at Stepping Forward Counseling Center. I have a wide range of experience in other fields, but I've always been passionate about teaching kids and teens English. To clarify, this means I have one-on-one experience and classroom setting experience.
You may not know this about me, but I studied English and earned a B.A. at the College of New Jersey, I was a reporter in a fintech organization, I was the youngest winner of a book ideas pitching contest as a teenager, and I tended to win a lot of spelling bees in my classes growing up.
I'm very good at accessing the hidden English nerd existing within every child—I'm interested in what they're interested in. My enthusiasm for English and your child's learning is infectious, and I make each lesson fun as well as educational. Children like learning with me—I once led a music lesson and got every child in the class to sing with me, even the quiet ones.
I enjoy seeing a student gain confidence in their own abilities over time—that gives me joy. A student needing me less over time, and producing their own theories and thoughts about texts is what truly inspires me.
