About Sharon
I am Professionally Certified in ELA, grades 7-12, by the Maine DOE, and currently teach in a public high school.
I enjoy the confidence and pride that I see develop in students when they are given one-on-one help in weak areas, enabling them to catch up, keep up, and even get ahead.
I have been tutoring and teaching, off and on, since my first work-study job as an adult ed assistant teacher while in college. I have held many other jobs as well, but teaching is always what I come back to, and is my favorite!
I am Professionally Certified in ELA for grades 7-12, hold a secondary English degree from the University of Maine, and have been teaching and tutoring through many decades! I enjoy working with young children, also, as they like to jump into fun stories, and want to learn to read for themselves.

I have a conversation with a parent, teacher if possible, and the student to find out the prioritization of skills to be worked on. If appropriate, I will do a quick assessment as a starting point. Then I will customize a plan to reach goals, and adjust as necessary as we move through the lessons.
