About Kyle
My approach is founded in patience and respect. I treat all students, first and foremost, as idiosyncratic individuals. I craft lessons to fit a student's personal needs. My ultimate goal is to help a student reach a level at which they no longer need my assistance. I want the student to cultivate the skills to be able to educate him or herself, and I want to instill a love of learning in the student that stands the test of time.
The most satisfying parts of my job include, but are not limited to: hearing a student say, at the end of session, that our time together felt like much less than it actually was; watching a student go above and beyond because he or she wants to, not because I asked him or her to do so; when, as they often do, students build on what we've learned in the past and implemented it into their current lessons. I love empowering students to maximize their potential and develop an everlasting love of learning.
After matriculating from graduate school, I needed a way to pay the bills while I pursued my fiction writing career. I quickly found that it was very fulfilling, and decided to expand and start my own business.
I currently work as a tutor at Sylvan Learning and also a private online tutor. I have a master's degree in screenwriting. I worked three years as a counselor at a summer camp and worked with children of all ages.

It depends on the subject. For writing, we work on the same online document, try to break up essays into paragraphs and paragraphs into sentences to make them more manageable. We record the vocab words that we learn. For reading, we review such things as topics, themes, irony, predictions, summarizing, etc. For math, it's all about repetition, encouraging positive steps foward, and understanding why math is an important thing to learn as a student.
All ages, all backgrounds.
Don't hire a teacher who treats a student like a child. Hire a teacher who treats a student like a person.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
A student should determine what they can reasonably accomplish, and how that teacher can best help them.

I am so impressed with Aaronson Tutoring. They actually customize the sessions for your student. It is definitely not a predesigned course or a formulaic, and it is certainly more than just homework help. A comprehensive assessment was completed the 1st day and then I was provided with the results and a tutoring plan that included all types of activities that I never imagined a tutor would suggest, including starting a book club with my son. My son is excited about the book club and working with Kyle. He has never been so excited or made as much progress with his writing as he is now with Aaronson Tutoring. They are also flexible with scheduling. The tutors provide tremendous value and customer service. I recommend Aaronson Tutoring without hesitation.
Kyle is incredibly engaging and easily follows my 8 year old son's interests while turning any topic into a learning opportunity. I'm frequently impressed when I overhear their tutoring sessions and they're talking about really sophisticated science concepts or literature. After working with Kyle in the spring we took a break over the summer and my son was begging to see Kyle again.
