About Lisa

Want to be a writer? I have the passion and experience to help your skills improve. Need to write a formal essay? I can help you with that. Whether you need assistance in reading, writing, or grammar application, I can help. English is a wonderful language, and its applications are endless.

I've been teaching for over a decade, ages preschool to 12th grade. I have one book published and edit a writing team on a weekly basis for the online publication "Coffee House Writers". During the day I teach English and Language Arts to grades k5 through 12th at a small private school in my area. I'm excited to share my love for English and Grammar with you!

I have my MFA in English/Creative Writing. I have one book published, and I write and edit weekly for an online publication, "Coffee House Writers". I have over 5 years of teaching experience in English from K5 to 12th grade.

About the lesson

I spend some time chatting with them to get an idea of their likes and dislikes. Then I ask what their biggest challenge is when doing English homework. Depending on their answer, I will engage in an appropriate "trial" activity. For example, if they have trouble reading, I'll ask them to read a short passage of age-appropriate literature to me out loud. That will give me an idea of what we may need to work on. If they have trouble with grammar, I'll ask them to write a short description of their favorite summer activity. I can analyze from that sample what sort of grammar strategies we need to focus on.

I have a lot of wonderful memories from the classes I’ve had with Mrs. Post! My favorite and most memorable class with her was creative writing. I now plan on using what I learned from that class and apply it to a graphic novel I plan to write and illustrate in the near future.
