About Mikayla
I combine my expertise in special education teaching with creative lesson planning that helps students to better understand and engage with the material!
One of my favorite lessons I've taught was a superhero-themed figurative language lesson. Learning should and CAN be fun!
What I enjoy most about teaching is helping students to believe in themselves and have fun with learning. I'm a self-proclaimed lifelong learner who will be one of your child's biggest cheerleaders!
I am a MA certified special educator (Moderate Disabilities PreK-8) with over 5 years in various educational settings such as public school classrooms and adventure education!

To start, I usually have a discussion with the student and their parent about their goals for tutoring. These goals could be anything from improving skills and understanding of a particular subject (Math, Reading, etc.) or gaining confidence in their work!
Then, I do a quick check-in assessment of how the student is currently doing regarding that goal. Based on how that goes and any comments from the student and parent, I'll build a plan to work on that skill.
Find a teacher who is both knowledgable in the field and wants to make learning fun!
