About Valerie
During this time when we all crave connection, my tutoring sessions are designed to be engaging and interactive, as well as effective. My goal is to provide customized instruction so that my students learn effectively and efficiently. I am focused on my student's success and well-being and want to see my students learn both academic content and personal confidence. I also understand how important it is to communicate and will send an email report to parents and students after every session.
I love reading and writing, sharing that joy gives purpose to my own life.
I started teaching working as with Literacy Volunteers of America. When I saw first hand how reading empowers, I was hooked for life.
I have a masters degree in education (EdM) from Rutgers University and have been a tutor for over ten years!

First, we set a S.M.A.R.T. goal, an ambition that is specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-bound. Next, I create a learning program that is tailored to the student so that he/she can meet that goal.
As a tutor, I have worked with students in all age groups (K-Adult) in a wide variety of subjects. Most of the students I have worked with are struggling with reading or writing.
