I was a student in University studying Journalism and wanted to find a way to connect and have conversation with my peers from around the world. So, I volunteered as a Conversation Partner at the campus Conversation Lab in the Learning Assistance Center. After an awesome semester of talking with English-as-a Second-Language students, I was hired as a Tutor. As a tutor I helped ESL students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees, helping them read, write, and understand the content and assignments of thier classes, as well as, engage them in fun activities to practice thier conversational language and build thier confidence engaging with thier local peers.

1. Trial class/ session to assess if we're a good tutor-student match. In that session, we will do introductions and I'll ask you a few questions pertaining to the service you are requesting. For ESL with children, I'll conduct an actual trial class so we can see how your child takes to me and my teaching style, and you as a parent can assess my teaching so we can decide how/ if to proceed. For young adult/ adult learners looking for help with specific tasks, the first session will be a much more straightforward discussion and planning, goal setting, and assessing starting point. I take a student-centered, whole-person approach to teaching, relationship building is an important part of being a great tutor to me.
