About Melanieq
My name is Melanie Sweeney and I have been in the education field for 10 years. I have a Masters Degree in Elementary Education that was obtained through Hofstra University and a Baceholrs Degree in Psychology obtained through Monmouth University. I started my jouney by becoming a Lead Preschool Teacher at an Early Childhood Center. I styaed with the center for four years and held various positions, such as; Lead Teacher, Curriculum Director, Associate Director, and Center Director. I spent most of my time there as the Curriculum Director where I was in charge of implementing and supporting our staff in the curriculum set forth in our program for children ages 6 weeks-12 years old. I trained teachers in the curriculum, created daily events/activities for the students, and attended trainings in relation to the development of our curriculum. I emsured the curriculum was being utilized appropriately and in our daily scheduling for the students. From there I went on to teach in public schools for grades K-5. During my time as a substitute I also implemeted 'The To Good For Drugs Too Good For Violence Program.' I then went on to teach a hybrid Kindergarten/1st Grade Class at a private elementary school that utilized the Quaker Testimonies in their daily teachings. It allowed me to incorporate peace, integrity, empathy, stewardship, community, and equality into my lesson planning. I currently work with families that are homeschooling their children ages Pre K - 1st Grade. I create various activities for them in all subject areas and keep it fun and innovative!
I enjoy watching children grow and seeing the progress they make throughout the time I am with them. I strive to make my daughters the best they can be by teaching them to kind, passionate, focused, and confident!
