About Weiyi
Hi! I'm Anna, a senior at The Brearley School in NYC and an incoming freshman at the University of Chicago. I love math, science, writing, and music, and I've spent the last few years tutoring younger students through my school's Math Buddy and Homework Club programs — so working one-on-one with students is something I genuinely enjoy.
Here's what I can help with:
• Math: Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus (AP Calculus BC — scored a 5), and SAT Math (scored 790)
• Writing & English: essay editing, AP Literature (scored a 5), creative writing, and college application essays. I've been published in literary journals and academic journals, so I'm comfortable across many styles.
• Science: AP Biology, AP US History, general biology and chemistry foundations
• Other: Mandarin (native speaker), violin (Manhattan School of Music Pre-College)
My teaching style: I always start by making sure the student understands why something works, not just the steps to memorize. Then we work through plenty of practice problems together until it really clicks. I'm patient, friendly, and I try to make sessions feel low-pressure — because students learn best when they're not afraid to ask questions
