About Jackson
I enjoy tutoring because it not only teaches students but it allows me to connect with people in a positive way. I take a very engaging approach, which makes students feel more comfortable within the learning enviornment as opposed to other services.
I enjoy my work because it has an impact on others. I spent such a long time trying to find a line of work that fulfilled both myself and those around me, and tutoring has done exactly that.
After I began work as a Math tutor at Mathnasium, I began teaching my friends in college because I wanted to continue to help others.
I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Computer Science with a minor in Applied Mathematics. I am constantly in classes that pertain directly to previous classes that I took in High school, Middle school, etc. In high school, I was the lead instructor at Mathnasium, and that shaped me into the tutor that I am today because it gave me the responsibility that I needed to successfully enrich the minds of my students.

During the first session, I like to get to know what they enjoy, how they like to learn, what they're learning, and what they're struggling with. In the following sessions, my goals are to assess there progress in the area that they have the most difficulty with, and I change my approach based on their individual process.
I have worked with a variety of students, including elementary students, middle school students, high school students, college students, students of low-income families, and students with learning disabilities.
I would say to look for someone that not only has the knowledge of the areas of study but also knows how to teach students in a fun, engaging manner.
Recently, the Kentucky Derby was on TV. I was very glad to see that the underdog horse, Rich Strike, won the event.
