About Dawn
As a teacher and curriculum writer for over 13 years for Kindergarten through Graduate School, I'm very familiar with many tools, techniques, and strategies to help simplify math concepts to make them easier to understand. Experience in this wide variety of grades also helps me find ways to re-teach or extend various concepts as well as understand how they're related to each other. This knowledge is helpful when I'm working with a tutoring student to grasp a concept fully as they move forward in their math curriculum.
In addition, I currently work in the Emotional Wellness field and have many simple ways to overcome school stress, test-anxiety, and frustration. This can be so helpful for students who feel 'stuck' .... like they'll never figure it out. I love incorporating these strategies in my tutoring sessions. I love being able to share many ways to solve a problem until something 'clicks' and the light bulb going off! With my experiece in teaching and curriculum writing, I've taught and written many different ways to 'get the answer'. Sometimes, the solution or step-by-step process in the book just isn't making sense so I LOVE being able to break a complex idea into simpler steps so that a student GETS it. THIS breakthrough is extremely exciting for me to see!
