About Katie
I have been a teacher for the past eight years. During this time, I have had the unique experience of teaching at the elementary, middle and high school level as well as working as a math specialist earning various awards along the way. I am certified in elementary education as well as middle level and high school mathematics. I also have a master's in education with a focus on English language learners. Through these experiences, I have obtained the ability to help learners of all ages and abilities understand mathematics.
I am a teacher, I have completed a master's degree in education and hold teaching certificates for elementary, middle school, and high school mathematics.

Typically I will start with an introduction and getting to know the student. Then I will ask the student what they enjoy about math and what struggles they have, this will help me understand the best ways to deliver the material they are learning. After this, I will begin asking the student some math questions that are on level, if they are struggling, I will continue moving down until the student can demonstrate understanding. In reverse, if a student keeps answering questions correctly, I can continue moving up to ensure they are being challenged. With this base line of knowledge, I am then ready to begin teaching the student.
