About James
Hi I'm James! I graduated from Purdue University this past May with a bachelor's in mechanical engineering and a minor in management. I currently work full time as a mechanical engineer. I really enjoy helping students to understand the fundamentals of math and how to then apply these principles to solve even the most challenging of problems. I have been tutoring students since I was a junior in high school and can tutor any middle school or high school math curriculum.
My tutoring methodology is determined based on the students current abilities as well as what the student wants to get out of the tutoring sessions. I plan the sessions around the students course curriculum schedule to help them prepare for upcoming quizzes and exams as well as reviewing difficult class problems and homework problems. With each session, I try to keep my inputs focused on major concepts and fundamentals to help the student thoroughly learn the material rather than simply showing how to get to that specific answer.
I have two years of experience tutoring Algebra 1 and 2 as well as one year of experience in tutoring geometry and Calculus 1. I am willing and able to tutor any middle school or high school math class as well as help students prep for ACT/SAT math sections.
I look forward to working with students to increase not only their knowledge base in math, but their appetite to dive deeper into the subject and understand how different concepts relate to one another.
