About Eleanor
Hello, my name is Eleanor. I am currently a mechanical engineering student at the University of Iowa and have experience tutoring students within the age range of 7 to 18. My tutoring style focuses on a complete and encompassing understanding of the subject rather than memorization. I emphasize every student’s own unique needs and in doing so, strive to help them discover their passion for learning. Please reach out if you feel we’d be a good fit.
I have a positive outlook on learning. I want to help my students find the joy of learning as well. My focus is on helping you find your learning style and which techniques work best for you. I am patient and will explain something several different ways until it finally clicks. I encourage an open learning environment and welcome question asking and feedback, as it helps me to understand what is happening in your mind. I genuinely care about your grasp of the material, and want you to have 100% confidence in it. I concentrate on ensuring you can recall information instead of simply recognizing it on a multiple choice exam. You will be able to completely come up with the information on your own. This is the difference between actually learning material rather than memorizing it. I truly focus on learning rather than rote memorization. You will learn valuable study skills that are applicable to the rest of your studies; study skills that are formulated specifically for your learning style.
Working as a tutor has always been a passion of mine. I built my own tutoring business at the ripe old age of 16 and loved every second of it. When I came to Iowa City, I first decided to focus on my studies which resulted in taking a break from tutoring. I missed seeing the sparkle in a student’s eyes when they got a question right. I am so excited to begin tutoring again, and I hope you will give me the honor of being your tutor. I have an ever growing approach to tutoring and will continue to mold my approach specifically to you as I get to know you.
