About Parul
I have experience tutoring and teaching math to students of all ages and levels of mathematical proficiency. I have been tutoring privately for 4 years. I have also worked in middle and high schools around the area. I currently teach part-time at UNF and tutor a few middle and high school students.
I take the time to get to know my students, as well as their strengths and weaknesses. To me, building student-teacher relationships is an important part in enhancing learning.

I have always been interested in teaching. I tutored students in the virtual lab when I was in high school. I participated in internships when I was an undergraduate student and then began working as a mathematics paraprofessional when I was in my final semester of my undergraduate program.
I was a Graduate Teaching Assistant while in grad school, and I had the opportunity to teach recitation sessions for College Algebra, Calculus for Business and Statistics for Business.
I have a B.S. in Mathematics and an M.S. in Mathematical Science. When I was an undergraduate, my minor was secondary education. For the minor, I performed over 100 hours of class room observations and teaching in elementary, middle and high school. I worked at St. Johns county for almost a year working with Algebra 1 and Geometry students. I have been tutoring for several years now and I also teach at the University of North Florida currently.

When I meet a new student, I first determine where they are in their current course: what areas are the struggling with, what are some of their challenges, what the student has masters.
If a student has mastered the standards in their current course, up to the most recent topic, we work from there and move forward.
If there are gaps in the students knowledge, we fill those gaps while also working on the current material, so that the student does not fall behind.
Elementary, middle and high school students, as well as college students. When I tutored in undergrad, I worked with a visually impaired student one-on-one.
Find a teacher or tutor who you trust. It is important to feel that you can make mistakes without feeling shame or self conscious with your teacher. Mistakes truly are the best teaching tool if both the student and teacher are able to work through mistakes with respect.
