About Keara
My name is Miss Coakley and I am a elementary school teacher. I will be entering my 6th year of teaching in the Fall of 2020. To date, I have taught 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 6th, and most recently 5th grade. My entire teaching career has been in the RCSD.
I completed by undergraduate and graduate degress at Nazareth College of Rochester. While in grad school, I served as a clinical resident. While in this internship, I worked closely with grades K-3 at an inner city school. This experience gave me an opportunity to conduct research in the area of literacy.
My background is in math, sociology, inclusive education, and literacy. I hold professional certifications in general education, SPED, and literacy specialist.
I enjoy providing students with a hands on approach to learning. This increases student engagement and in turn helps with comprehending coursework.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I have become accustom to online teaching. I Zoomed with my students daily and had frequent contact with parents to discuss academic progress.
My goal is to assist your child with their academic goals in an effort to prevent a summer learning gap.
Undergraduate degree- sociology and inclusive education

5 years of teaching. Currently going into my 6th year.
I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th grade.
