About Caitlyn
I love math; it has always been my favorite subject to study. With that being said though, I've had my fair share of math problems that have made me scratch my head in confusion. But I got through those problems with the help of tutors and a "magic" whiteboard. Sometimes, the key to solving a problem is just looking at it from a different angle. I want to help you find the angle that helps you understand the math problems that make your head hurt and your palms sweat.
I tutored math in college, graduated with a very math-focused degree in Mechanical Technology, and I'm a total nerd. I want everyone to love math as much as I do, so I will work tirelessly to help you find an approach to tricky problems and concepts that works for you.
I think my approach to tutoring is fun and creative because I don't believe that there's only one solution to a problem. If you can get the correct answer every time and show your work to explain how you got that answer, then why should you have to follow the process outlined in a textbook if that doesn't make sense to you?

I got started with tutoring in college. I was employed through the work study program to be a tutor in the math center and worked as a tutor for my final semester of college.
I tutored math in college and passed all of my college math classes up to Calculus I with an A- or higher.

When working with a new student, I try to solve the immediate breakdown in understanding as well as the root of the problem. We'll go over any time sensitive work first and figure out where the student is struggling and then we'll work backwards, reinforcing the concepts that the student may be struggling with until they're comfortable and confident enough to tackle any problem they come across.
