About Elizabeth
Former math teacher on sabbatical looking to help others in their journey through the math world. I have a bachelor's in math, minor in developmental psych and a master's in education.
I taught in LAUSD for 11 years at the high school level, specializing in algebra. I have taught multiple math subjects from Algebra1 to Statistics.
I have a passion for education and especially for helping others. I know math can be challenging for many people, but I am extremely patient and know various methods and ways to teach a concept. I especially enjoy seeing students light up when they finally get something and when they feel proud of themselves.
Ever since I was little, I always knew I wanted to be a teacher because I like helping others. I started teaching in high school while being a tutor at a Kumon Learning Center then continued my passion for education in college with private tutoring and volunteering at various outreach programs. I started my official first teaching position at Belmont High School teaching Algebra1 and Algebra2.
I graduated from UCLA with a bachelor's degree in math, a minor in developmental psychology and a master's in education.
I have a single subject credential in secondary math. I have been trained in College Prep Math, Common Core, and Linked Learning.

I'd like to start by getting to know them- How they learn best and their strengths and weaknesses in math. From there it's important to set goals and figure out the best path to get there.
I have worked with various types of students from honors/AP over-achievers to struggling repeating students. I've also taught a range of students from infants to high schoolers. My expertise is with secondary math- high school students.
A recent event that I'm most fond of is when I had an English Language Learner achieve his goals. He recently moved to the country in December and by June he had improved his english and math skills immensely. He was extremely respectful and most importantly- hard-working. He attended tutoring weekly and even though he still has a long way to go, he had a positive experience and felt proud of his accomplishments.
