About Mitchell
Passionate recent grad with a Bachelor's in nuclear engineering looking to help students stuck learning from home as we continue to stay home to protect ourselves. I've been tutoring for a few weeks on another platform, but want to tutor specifically Math and Science for high-schoolers and college students.
I've been stuck at home during the quarantine with little else to do, so I took up sharing my knowledge and experience with students all over who can't get 1 on 1 help from TAs or teachers due to online learning.
I studied nuclear engineering at the University of Illinois and have mastered the principles of high-school and early college-level math and physics, as well as some areas of chemistry.

I normally start by looking at a sample assignment and asking the student to walk me through how they would start on various problems. Once I identify the step that they find difficult, I try to explain the process in terms they can better understand. Most often the problem students face is that their teacher told them what the step is called and performed an example problem, but failed to explain what is happening and why this step is important. Understanding what you are looking for and how each step works allows students to solve problems on their own and is more crucial to their long term success in that area.
Primarily college students in first or second-year math and science classes, as well as some high-school students.
The most important thing is not always how well someone knows a subject, but how well they can explain it. Communication skills are as important as academic knowledge.
