About Ariel
I am currently a mechanical engineering student at the University of San Diego and have also been a self-employed tutor for a little more than 4 years. I actually was pretty terrible at math in high school, so when I got to the college level, I had to relearn all of the math, starting with pre-algebra. Because of this, I was able to build a strong foundational understanding of math from pre-algebra onward, which has gotten me to where I am today :)

Typically, the first session is more of a meet & greet, where we sit down and assess where you're currently at in your class, what your goals are, and what you expect out of me as your tutor. In addition, we go through the material and assess what your strengths and weaknesses are, and what areas and concepts you can improve.
I've worked with students of all ages, from 5 years old to 45 years old. I try to adapt my lessons and teaching styles based upon my client, so how the lessons are run really depends on the individual and their needs.
Make sure that the tutor you hire is passionate, able to keep you engaged, is able to explain concepts in a number of ways, and is generally just a good fit for your needs. Tutoring sessions can get pretty expensive and are usually two hours at a time, so if you have a tutor who's not really passionate about teaching or helping you understand, you're not gonna get the most out of your sessions.
After finishing up the spring semester, I was able to travel up to Northern California and backpack in the mountains for a week!
