About Liam
I've recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Pure Math from the University of Waterloo in Canada and I'm looking to do math tutoring during the summer before starting my Master's. I'm now with my family based in Silver Spring (my younger brother was a senior at Montgomery Blair).
I've been tutoring students in math and CS since grade 10. As such, I am very passionate about sharing my knowledge with the younger generation and hope to spark students' interest in math. Having lived in Bangkok, Thailand, during middle school and high school as an expat, I have the experience of tutoring international students in programs such as IB, IGCSE, and A-Levels.
As someone who has a deep appreciation for the elegance of math, I enjoy discussing and sharing this with other students. I find it disheartening when I hear a student doesn't enjoy math, which I feel is a consequence of how it's taught in school. As such, I place a lot of emphasis on teaching how to think mathematically instead of blindly applying procedures to do calculations.
