About Kayshla
In my freshman year of college, I enjoyed learning Calculus I. Now, graduating with my math degree at FIU and being a Learning Assistant for Calculus I and other various math subjects for almost three years, I love helping students learn and understand math. It is fulfilling to guide students through the learning process and see them succeed.
I am earning my Bachelor's of Science in mathematics at FIU. I have worked as a Learning Assistant since January 2018 and a Research Assistant as of January 2020.
My work as a Learning Assistant has included working in-class and in the FIU Math Lab for various subjects ranging from College Algebra to Calculus I.

To start, I gather a basis for the student's general knowledge of the subject in question. I ask them questions about what they have learned and are learning, and then ask them what questions or confusions they may have regarding the material.
I have mainly worked with college students, ages ranging from 18-65.
Listen to the students and ask them open-ended questions that will allow them to reflect and give you a good understanding of what they need from you.
