About Umaira
I am a highly experienced and dedicated tutor with LLB (Hons) Law degree from the University of Plymouth. Following my Law degree, I undertook a Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) course in Mathematics at the University of East London, further developing my specialist knowledge and ability to teach Mathematics effectively. I have been tutoring since 2013, providing both one-to-one and group tuition. My teaching experience covers KS1, KS2, KS3 and KS4 Mathematics, as well as Primary English, including reading, writing and comprehension. Alongside private tutoring, I have experience working within both primary and secondary school settings as an Academic Coach, where I received outstanding feedback for my work with pupils. This experience has given me a strong understanding of different learning styles, abilities and the importance of adapting teaching to meet each learner’s individual needs. A significant part of my work also involves providing one-to-one educational support to children and young people who are not currently attending mainstream school, including those living in care. I work with pupils at their home or another suitable location, such as a library, providing structured and personalised education to help them remain engaged with learning, develop their confidence and make meaningful academic progress. My approach is patient, supportive and adaptable. I believe that every student learns differently, so I tailor my teaching methods, resources and pace to suit the individual rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. My aim is not only to help pupils improve their grades, but also to strengthen their understanding, independence and confidence in learning. I am also multilingual and can speak and understand Urdu, Punjabi and Pashto, which can be particularly helpful when supporting pupils and communicating with families from diverse backgrounds. Whether your child needs help catching up, strengthening key skills, preparing for assessments or achieving higher grades, I am committed to providing professional, reliable and personalised support.
