About Arij

Hi, I’m Arij, or AJ!

I’m an experienced educator with 30+ years of teaching experience at an American international school, where I’ve worked with students from elementary through high school, including many English Language Learners (ELLs).

As an ELL myself, I understand firsthand what it feels like to learn in a language that isn’t your first. I know that sometimes the hardest part isn’t the subject itself—it’s finding the confidence to ask questions, make mistakes, and keep trying. That experience has deeply shaped the way I teach.

My goal is to make learning feel clear, supportive, practical, and even enjoyable. Whether you’re building your English skills, strengthening your reading and writing, preparing for school, or simply looking for more confidence, I’ll meet you where you are and help you move forward step by step.

I’ve also strengthened my teaching practice through professional study in reading and writing at Columbia University, along with years of experience designing lessons and curriculum for students with different learning needs and backgrounds.

In our sessions, you can expect patience, encouragement, personalized strategies, and lots of opportunities to practice. I believe that every student can learn—and that the right teacher can make a tremendous difference.

Arijand, I’m excited to work with you! I’ve spent over 25 years teaching at an American international school, working with ELL students of all ages—elementary, middle, and high school.

As an ELL myself, I know how challenging learning a new language can be. My own journey has shaped how I teach, ensuring my methods are practical, supportive, and effective. I’ve also honed my skills through reading and writing workshops at Columbia University.
