About Kim
I've been providing customized swim lessons for all ages and abilities since 1991. My goal is to bring swimming and water safety education into homes and communities worldwide. Since I can’t be everywhere in person, I decided to create education for parents, grandparents, caregivers and teachers. I have a children’s book, a DIY ebook, online step-by-step guides and waterproof skill cards. I love being able to empower people with the tools to teach swimming. I want the world to know that learning how to swim is a lifelong, lifesaving skill that everyone should learn. It is never too early or too late to create a positive relationship with water. Learning to swim should be a skill available to everyone because drowning does not discriminate.
I love working with every age and ability, especially swimmers that think they will be "a challenge" to teach. I love challenges! I'm considered an innovator in swimming instruction for people with autism and those overcoming water phobias. My successful record of aquatic breakthroughs inspired founding Face in Water, a non-profit organization that helps individuals develop lifesaving swimming and water safety skills. It's incredible to be able to empower families worldwide with the skills to enjoy the benefits of water.
I grew up swimming competitively and have been a swimmer my entire life. I still swim at La Jolla Cove every week!
I have been teaching swimming for 30 years and specialize in fear and anxiety in the water. I can teach any age/ any ability.

About the lesson

Schedule an initial 60 minute session with no commitment. I will assess each individual swimmer and make recommendations for the best way to proceed. I can do A LOT in one lesson. Some clients schedule weekly lessons, while others schedule one lesson at a time, as needed.
I have worked with all ages from 2 months to eighty years old. I work with infants, special needs, adults with fear- anyone and everyone!
Find a program that looks, sounds and feels like a good fit. If someone wants money and a commitment before you try them out, make sure you see the program first. It's very important to find an instructor that the student is comfortable with and trusts.
Schedule an initial session if possible to see if it is a good fit. I can do A LOT in 60 minutes! I will do whatever I can to help you and your family create a healthy respect for and relationship with the water- any reliable swim instructor should do the same.
Through my non-profit, Face in Water, I travelled to Uganda, Africa for a Swimming and Water Safety Outreach. People came from all over the isalnds in Lake Victoria to learn from us. I helped teach 120 adults how to swim AND how to teach others how to swim. We also taught 300 children how to swim. It was an unbelievable experience! They went back to their isalnds and started swim programs to teach the people in their communities. I get updates via Facebook and What's App- pictures and videos of them teaching swimming, stories about saving others from drowning- so amazing.
