About Jacob
Hello, I am a recent graduate from the University of Oxford, where I earned a first class degree in Engineering. I have a strong background and interest in Machine Learning, Statistical Methods and Control Theory, but I also have a broad and solid foundation in other engineering disciplines, such as Thermodynamics, Mechanics and Electronics. I have excelled in all my examinations throughout my education, achieving a first class in every exam at university, 3 A*s at A-Level (Maths, Further Maths and Physics), and 10 A*s and 1 A at GCSE.
I am passionate about teaching and sharing my knowledge with others, especially young students who are interested in pursuing engineering, mathematics or physics as their future career paths. I have decided to tutor as I am taking some time off after university before I start my professional journey, and I want to use this opportunity to help students achieve their academic goals and aspirations. I believe that I can offer not only high-quality tutoring, but also guidance and mentorship based on my own experience and success. I am friendly, patient and enthusiastic, and I look forward to working with you.

My teaching style is based on collaboration and understanding. I believe that every student has different strengths and weaknesses, and that the best way to help them learn is to tailor the lessons to their individual needs and goals. That is why I always start by assessing the student’s current level of knowledge, skills and confidence in the subject, and then work with them to design a lesson plan that suits their learning style and pace.
My approach to learning is to focus on developing a deeper understanding of the concepts and principles behind the subject, rather than just memorizing facts and formulas. I think that this way of learning not only prepares the student for the exams, but also for the future challenges and opportunities that they may encounter in their academic and professional careers. By understanding the underlying logic and reasoning behind the subject, the student can apply their knowledge to a wider range of problems and situations, and also retain information for longer.
This approach to learning is something that helped me achieve excellent results in my GCSEs, A Levels and Undergraduate degree.
