About Ismail

I’m a second-year Mathematics with Computing student at Queen Mary University of London, having achieved first-class results throughout my first year.
Having gone through GCSEs and A-Levels relatively recently myself, I understand both the academic side of the subjects and the difficulties students commonly face when trying to understand them.
I know what it feels like to struggle with a topic before it finally clicks, so I focus on explaining ideas clearly and breaking difficult questions into manageable steps rather than simply giving students an answer to memorise.
I have experience tutoring Maths and Computer Science and particularly enjoy helping students improve their confidence with topics they previously found difficult.
My teaching style is relaxed, patient and adapted to the individual student. Whether the goal is catching up, improving exam technique or aiming for a higher grade, I try to identify exactly where the student is struggling and work from there.

Lessons are tailored to the student rather than following the same approach for everyone.
We can focus on:
Understanding difficult topics from the beginning
Working through exam-style questions step by step
Improving problem-solving and exam technique
Identifying gaps in knowledge
Revising for upcoming tests and exams
Going through homework or schoolwork the student is struggling with
For Maths in particular, I focus heavily on helping students understand why a method works rather than simply memorising steps. Once the concept is understood, we apply it to progressively harder questions until the student can solve them independently.
As someone who has recently studied these qualifications myself, I am familiar with the way modern exams are structured and the mistakes students commonly make.
The first lesson is free. We can use it to discuss the student's current level, subjects they find difficult and what they want to achieve before deciding whether I am the right tutor for them.
