About Gabriel Joaquin

My name is Gabriel Joaquin, a student at the University of the Philippines Manila with a lifelong passion for the social sciences. My academic track record reflects a relentless commitment to excellence: I graduated as Grade School Valedictorian, maintained consistent honor standing, and earned merit scholarships including an Ateneo Junior High School scholarship (Grades 7–8) and a local government scholarship through senior high school (Grades 8–12).

As an experienced researcher, seasoned competitive debater, and public speaker, I bring structured critical thinking, articulate communication, and academic rigor to every tutoring session. My goal is to translate my love for history, humanities, and analytical writing into actionable, high-scoring skills for my students.

About My Teaching Method & Approach
My name is Gabriel Joaquin, a student at UP Manila. My teaching approach is strictly student-centric—I believe real learning happens through active synthesis, not passive lecture listening.

Instead of dumping facts on you, we start by mapping out what you already know. I then build a clear, logical outline around your existing knowledge, bridging any conceptual gaps and inserting deep historical or theoretical context where needed. My end goal for every session is simple: by the time we finish, you should be able to organize the topic into a structured essay and confidently articulate your own well-reasoned opinion on the subject.

My Typical Lesson Plan goes as follows

Step 1: The Diagnostic Check-In (10 mins) – We open with a guided discussion about the topic to assess your baseline understanding and pinpoint exact confusion areas.

Step 2: Interactive Outlining & Gap-Bridging (15 mins) – We organize the core concepts on a shared visual outline, filling in missing details, key terms, dates, or theories.

Step 3: Conceptual Deep Dive (15 mins) – We explore the "why" and "how" behind the facts (e.g., geopolitical motives, historical cause-and-effect, literary motifs, fun facts).

Step 4: Essay Synthesis & Critical Opinion (20 mins) – You practice converting the lesson outline into a short essay structure, concluding with your own critical argument or evaluation of the topic.

What Sets Me Apart

Political Science & Humanities Discipline: I don't just teach you what happened in history or literature, I teach you how to analyze it critically and write about it academically.

Structure over Memorization: I focus on frameworks and logical outlines so you can retain complex subjects (like Geopolitics, Classics, or History) effortlessly.

Writing-Centric Focus: Every lesson strengthens your ability to formulate strong, cohesive essays which is a skill essential for high school, entrance exams, and university coursework.

Who These Lessons Are For

High School Students (Grades 7–10): Seeking strong foundational help in Philippine History, Civics, English, Filipino, and Social Studies.

Senior High & AP / IB Students: Preparing for Advanced Placement (AP Euro/US/World History, Economics), IB Literature, or high-level humanities essays.

College Entrance Test (CET) Candidates: Students reviewing for the UPCAT, ACET, or DCAT Social Science and Verbal Reasoning subtests.

Undergraduates & Beginners: Anyone needing guidance in essay composition, analytical writing, world history, or basic geopolitics.
