About Makayla
Right now for myself, I am working on my performance and stage presence. Im at a point where I’m done just learning songs; I want to learn the theory behind the songs, I want to be able to understand and connect the notes together so I can improvise my own licks in the songs; make them more unique sounding.
The main types of music I like to focus on is:
Jazz; ranging from basic Jazz standards to melodic improvisations, and all the other elements that come with Jazz.
Funk/Soul/R&B; These kinds of genera's are definitely newer to playing wise, but once you get going it’s impossible to stop. I just have so much fun with these funky/melodic/beautiful lines and solos you can make. This is definitely something we could do a little exploring of together.
Blues Rock/ Classic Rock; I am/ have been in my Zeppelin/Floyd/Hendrix era!! I’ve been learning the ‘Led Zeppelin II’ album in school, and am now preparing for my Zeppelin cover set at the Blues Fest in Kincardine this summer. Things have really been looking up for me with my music recently, I feel like I’m finding what I enjoy most and I want to be able to share that with others :)

I’m willing to email, text, or even call, if you’re in need of any slight assistance during any time we may be apart. During our lessons, I also may be a little goofy; but that’s what’s going to make them fun I think.
I’m willing to take suggestions on songs, or anything else you may want help/ want to focus on; I can be very flexible. I also don’t want to force you to learn something you really don’t want to, that won’t be as much fun (even though I may push certian songs very strongly as learning them can help you improve with different techniques :)
I’m honestly just here to have fun, I want to be able to help assist newer players and expand their music; take it back to the roots. Lastly, I can also be your human example; we all make mistakes, it’s apart of the learning :)
