I like teaching to the students strengths.
Your tutor is a determining factor in your success, it sounds obvious but how much effort is put into understanding what you like, how you learn and what you need to do to get where you want is essential, which is why I design a programme specifically for you, for what you want: to play for fun, play in a band, learn to write songs, become professional one day or simply have fun strumming away in...
Students of all levels are welcome and their needs and questions about getting better at the guitar will be accomodated and adressed in practice.
I approach my guitar teaching through a nationally recognised syllabus, providing excellent structure to students' learning. This will encompass chord playing, improvisation and general musicianship. I also teach a variety of repertoire appropriate to the tastes of each individual student.
Every student is different and requires different approaches.
From teaching chords & basic songs for beginners, to modal scales & theory for those more advanced, I've got you covered. Want to improve your improvisation skills or learn how to write & structure your own songs? No problem, I can even teach you how to record them. How about advanced sweep/ tapping arpeggios, harmonics or tremolo techniques? Lets make it look easy.
I approach each student differently according to the needs and interests of my student. I try to incorporate technique and theory in a fun way for each lesson. I teach students from 6-18 years old and would consider beginner adults prior to discussion.
The most important thing I try to start with is finding out what the student wants to learn and what they find exciting about music. That will determine how flexible I am in my approach.
I like to keep the lessons fun and informal.
I tailor each lesson to my students needs and desires. If you just want to learn how to play a few tunes to strum around the campfire then we will spend the majority of time on learning songs. A few basic exercises will still be beneficial to your progress, so we would usually start each lesson with an exercise based on your current ability and desired playing style.
I base each lesson on the individual goals of each student. By collectively agreeing on set short and long term goals, it will allow us to successfully reach our overall musical ambitions. Everyone wants to do something different musically. For some it is to learn to play in a band for fun, for others it may be to read music or to perform a solo concert.
My main intention is to help my student become not only a guitarist/bass player, but primarily a well rounded musician. I aim to teach a skill-set that will enable my student to work within the music industry enabling them to become any type of musician they wish.
I am a self taught musician. Everything I know from playing a break beat on the drums, shredding out a guitar solo or producing a record for artists I have learned by myself. What I mean by this is that I chose exactly what I wanted to learn and when.
I am an experienced teacher giving guitar lessons around what songs and interests the student would like to learn, whilst teaching all the fundamental core techniques and elements of music and playing their instrument, making each lesson fulfilling, fun and enjoyable.
I am offering laid back classes for the individual/group looking to get started in guitar but do not necessarily want to get bogged down in all the theory. I will go over basic chord structures and progressions with you and will learn songs alongside you.
My teaching method is to always encourage an open and creative learning environment for all my students, both in groups and one-to-one, where the only two goals are to work towards clear, concise goals, and of course, having fun in the process.
I work holistically taking into account the learning style of individual students and adapt my approach to their needs. I cover a broad range of Arts and Academic criteria ranging from teaching the guitar and stylistic jam session to grade 8 in Rockschool and ABRSM in addition to IT coding and advanced computer skills.
I like to make my students feel as comfortable as possible in order for them to express themselves fully. I believe that creating a relaxed teaching environment is essential. I like to tailor my lessons to the students wants and needs as well as providing some essential theory in a easily digestible way.
I teach students who want to play in bands, or just want to learn an instrument, tailoring each lesson to the needs of the individual student and their individual learning abilities. I am committed to help students achieve their individual goals and learn the guitar in a fun way.
I use the ‘Yamaha Technique’ alongside ‘A Common Approach’ to ensure students get more from lessons other than just learning how to play songs. I cover multiple music styles with a large repertoire, knowlege and awareness of syllabi to draw upon.
My method of teaching for the first few weeks is the same for everyone - learn the basics which will be the same for each player. Once a few basic pop songs have been learned (American Pie etc) we can then tailor the lessons to suit the student, if they want to work on jazz, rock, country etc...
I am a big fan of active learning, guiding a person through their own learning process. All teaching is centred around the students needs or desires with the instrument.
Hi! I'm Jamie. I'm a recent graduate with a First in Professional Musicianship from BIMM (University Of Sussex). I am a working musician, with a wealth of experience beyond just playing. My basic lesson plans differ per student, as I understand that individuals have unique methods & speeds of learning.
I teach all levels of musician from beginners to advanced players. Each lesson is tailored to the individual students needs. I always cover music reading, theory and technique. Students also learn popular songs along the way. I cover the syllabus required for ABRSM, Trinity college and Rockschool.
I spot the core problem and solve that. Endlessly learning scales and chords does not help if you have problem with time or understanding music. It is there, I aid my students so that they learn fast. I help students to focus on music. Often that is lost attending to theory and technique.
I am able to teach those of beginner to intermediate level at various styles of electric guitar, although this can also extend to Bass and Acoustic guitar. I offer 1 to 1 lessons, where we can focus on the individuals needs and can structure lessons around the pupil.
I attended The platform one music of college and progressed through the b-tech and degree courses in commercial music. I achieved a merit in rockschool at grade 8. Lessons are catered personally to each student to work on specific techniques that the student would like to either learn or progress in, whether that be general development or work towards the students next grade.
I attempt to get the student playing basic chords as quickly as possible, and then move on to their favourite songs. I then break down the songs into simple structures-so they are playing their tunes as soon as possible. This gives them confidence, and also wishing to learn more.
Specializing on a one to one basis to nurture and encourage progress on a personal level. At the student's own pace and from their own level of understanding a natural progression will unfold almost immediately. Under my supervision progress will be swift and fun.
My aim is to teach you whatever you want to know, whether its a simple song or a theory lesson. I usually leave it up to the student to guide me on what they want to be taught, I find this keeps the lesson relevant and relaxed, thus meaning that each lesson is personalised to your own taste helping you achieve your goals quicker.
