Your tutor is a determining factor in your success, it sounds obvious but how much effort is put into understanding what you like, how you learn and what you need to do to get where you want is essential, which is why I design a programme specifically for you, for what you want: to play for fun, play in a band, learn to write songs, become professional one day or simply have fun strumming away in...
My teaching method is dependent on the students level of playing. If they already have the basics then we will work through Grade or song books to challenge their playing. If the student is starting from scratch then before that we'll spend time working on chord progressions and scales.
I like to teach my students in a way that allows them to learn the technique and principles of the guitar, but also gives them the knowledge and training to be creative and create their own music as well as learning other songs. My lessons are based around building a solid foundation of knowledge, whilst having fun and encouraging creativity.
I approach my guitar teaching through a nationally recognised syllabus, providing excellent structure to students' learning. This will encompass chord playing, improvisation and general musicianship. I also teach a variety of repertoire appropriate to the tastes of each individual student.
I approach each student differently according to the needs and interests of my student. I try to incorporate technique and theory in a fun way for each lesson. I teach students from 11-18 years old and would consider beginner adults prior to discussion.
Since I am currently studying PostGCE for Young People and Adult Specialists at Newcastle College, I am learning more effective teaching methods and improving my teaching. I always make my lessons clear and instructive with an achievable goal for the lesson. Using individual lesson plans which are designed with the student each student has a tailored plan for what they want to achieve.
My main intention is to help my student become not only a guitarist/bass player, but primarily a well rounded musician. I aim to teach a skill-set that will enable my student to work within the music industry enabling them to become any type of musician they wish.
I'm self taught so my teaching is probably a bit different to other tutors but I believe that this makes me a better teacher as I have methods that make it easier for beginners. When I started out it was really difficult for me to play so I developed my own methods to make it easier.
I use the ‘Yamaha Technique’ alongside ‘A Common Approach’ to ensure students get more from lessons other than just learning how to play songs. I cover multiple music styles with a large repertoire, knowlege and awareness of syllabi to draw upon.
My method of teaching for the first few weeks is the same for everyone - learn the basics which will be the same for each player. Once a few basic pop songs have been learned (American Pie etc) we can then tailor the lessons to suit the student, if they want to work on jazz, rock, country etc...
I have been playing music for 20 years and enjoy passing on my knowledge and experience to people of all levels looking to learn and play guitar. My method for each student is dependant on what they want to learn and are interested in.
How did I develop such a life changing relationship with music? All it starts with picking up an Instrument, in my case the Guitar.
I approach individually to every student, depending on his music taste and goal that he wants to achieve. I teach the foundation of guitar playing like chords and scales and then I teach how to develop them in an intuitive way. I'll teach all kinds of techniques like picking, sweep picking, tapping, arppegio, bending of guitar playing targeted for a Lead Guitarist.
At the moment I tutor exclusively in one-on-one sessions. I aim to teach in a relaxed and informal environment with focus on the aims and abilities of the student, not just following a curriculum or book. I do not concern myself with grading- it's all about your personal progress as an individual.
Lessons are tailored to each pupil adults or children. I have taught children and adults with learning difficulties such as ADHD, pupils on the Autistic scale, dyslexic and I and currently teaching an adult who is blind.
Before studying a Bachelors Degree in Professional Musicianship, I made my living as gigging and session guitar player which included: festivals, weddings, studio work and songwriting. My lessons are primarily based on what the student wants to learn, and to provide the skills and guidance to help them achieve whatever it is they want to do with the guitar.
Freindly , humourous and practical beginner and intermediate guitar techniques - non technical , easy to grasp and user friendly . You can get a sense of my teaching style by watching my 'guitar club' song from 2 years ago when I was teacher in China.
I offer a friendly and approachable one on one tuition to focus more on the student allowing you to feel at ease using demonstration methods mixed with discussion methods to help the student navigate their way through learning to help build the students confidence and techniques.

It depends what we are going to work on. I can teach you how to expand your musicianship, improvisation skills, how to compose your own music and songs. When it comes to performing, your own role on your instrument in a band or as a solo instrument. You can see the guitar in a new light.
The style of my lessons really depends on each student, I want to make sure that the student is getting everything they can out of the session! I take some time to find out a bit about each student...what type of guitarist they want to be, what styles they want to learn, their influences, what they want to achieve from the lessons and where they want to be in the future.
It's vital to me to adapt to every different pupil's needs and tastes, as every student is unique and deserves a personalized method. I always start by finding out how much the pupil knows, their preferences, their goals and the amount of time they will spend practising, and prepare the lessons taking that information into account.
My lessons are client-based so, whatever you want to learn, I teach! I'm known for creating great improvement in a short space of time by creating excitement around the instrument as well as making use of book and technology resources.
In the spirit of the free practice of art, my lessons will be structured to gently guide but still give the student creative control. My aim is to teach the student how to form and master their art, how to discover their own sound. The student will learn not how to simply play their instrument, but to create music.
I approach teaching differently to most. I try and keep it simple but the most informative for my students. Everyone is different so I try and cater to the individuals needs rather than what's expected of you. Music theory is not essential as we shall learn along the way to read and understand music in s way that sticks with you.
Lessons will be tailored to the students ability, needs and interests. These can involve: learning the Grade curriculum, learning a new piece, building up an understanding of scales, music theory and how it can be applied to the instrument, and working on correct technique in order to develop speed and fluidity. They will also be as fun and relaxed as possible while still working hard.
I like to focus my teaching depending on the aims of each student within the music world, but always giving technical and practice tools to make my students versatile musicians, covering improvisation, composition and technical skills, as well as analysing songs.
Beginner to intermediate levels, all ages ( age 6+) welcome. Quality guitar tuition customised to fit each student’s needs and pace of learning. Children classes based on Gamed based learning to nurture their passion for music. Lessons cover the fundimentals of music such as note reading, technique developing, rhythmic and harmonic understanding with some variation depending on the style.
I base my teaching on what songs and which guitarist the student is influenced by, this gives a target that can be worked with the student to achieve. Each lesson is structured as a review of previous material, then rhythm work, lead work, ear training, song learning and performance.
Tone is the goal. Most of a player's practise should be ensuring rich tone production. I will show you key aspects key of playing that will see you into the years ahead. Or if you have bad habits, I'll help you to reprogram. We can convey visual aids by email containing eg. chord shapes and/or theory. I can map the structure of chords from the neck onto an image of a piano.
