About Ayla
Hi! I’m Ayla :) I’m currently studying Biomedicine at the University of Melbourne and I’ve always genuinely loved learning and helping other people understand things too.
I’m especially confident in Math, Science (Biology is definitely my favorite!) and English, but I’m happy to help with most subjects from primary school through to Year 10. (I can definitely help with year 11/12 Biology and General math if needed, but I would need to know the syllabus first!)
I know how frustrating it can be when something just isn’t clicking, so I’m a really patient and encouraging person when I teach. I never want a student to feel embarrassed for not knowing something or for asking the same question more than once. I’m more than happy to explain something in a completely different way until we find what works for them.
I also currently teach guitar, which has given me experience working with younger students and taught me a lot about adapting to different personalities and learning styles.
More than anything, I want my students to feel comfortable around me and actually enjoy our lessons. I’d love to help them improve their grades, but also become more confident in themselves and their ability to learn!

My approach to tutoring is pretty simple! I want students to actually understand what they’re learning rather than just memorizing an answer. I like to first figure out what they’re struggling with and then break it down into smaller, easier steps. I’m also really patient, so I’m more than happy to explain something a few different ways until we find one that actually makes sense to them.
A typical lesson would be around 1 hour, but I’m definitely flexible depending on the student and what they need. I’d usually start by going over anything they’re currently struggling with at school, explain the topic together, work through some examples, and then let them try questions themselves while I help where needed.
I’m currently studying Biomedicine at the University of Melbourne and have a strong academic background, particularly in Math, Science and English. I also currently teach guitar, which has given me experience teaching younger students and has taught me how important patience, encouragement and adapting to different learning styles can be :)
My lessons would mainly be for primary school students through to Year 10. I’m comfortable tutoring most general subjects at these levels, particularly Math, Science (especially Biology) and English. Most importantly, I want my lessons to feel comfortable and relaxed so students aren’t afraid to ask questions or say when they don’t understand something.
