About Jesenya

My journey in mental health began at 19 years old when I started working as an Administrative Assistant in an inpatient psychiatric unit. Psychology has always fascinated me—not only through my education, but also through life experiences, personal growth, and the many different people and situations I've encountered along the way.

Mental health and psychology are complex fields. While the science behind human behavior is fascinating, it can also feel overwhelming and intimidating to students who are just beginning their journey. That's where I can help.

My goal is to make psychology more approachable by connecting what you learn in the classroom to real-world experiences. Whether you're trying to understand a diagnosis, explore career paths in mental health, or discover which area of psychology best fits your interests, I'm here to support your growth and confidence.

I take a non-traditional approach to tutoring. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all method, I tailor each session to the individual student. Together, we'll develop a personalized plan based on your goals, learning style, strengths, and areas where you need the most support. My focus is on helping you build understanding, confidence, and practical skills that extend beyond the classroom.

There are countless opportunities within the mental health field, and navigating them can be challenging. Let me help you better understand the field, find your passion, and achieve your academic and professional goals.

My Teaching Style

Psychology is more than memorizing definitions. I help students understand:

What different mental health diagnoses mean
How symptoms may present in real-life situations
How clinicians conceptualize cases
The differences between similar disorders
How psychological theories apply to everyday behavior
The realities of working in mental health settings

I do not provide diagnostic services or teach students to diagnose individuals. Instead, I help students develop a deeper understanding of psychological concepts, diagnoses, and clinical thinking as they relate to their coursework and professional development.

Available for high school, undergraduate, and some graduate-level psychology students.
