About Jack
As a teacher I am very patient and understanding (and hilarious). I'm still young enough to remember the difficulties people face when they start programming and this factors into my teaching through the use of analogies and plenty of real-world examples. I have many years of experience working with students between the ages of 11-18, and also plenty of experience working with students with SEND. I currently teach years 1 and 2 of Sixth-form. I am very much a Constructivist in my approach to learning- I believe we learn best when we are working on something practical that we can actually see the use in. I became a teacher because I like helping people and struggled a lot when I first started programming, many moons ago. I couldn't get the concepts to quite click into place and as a result, I absolutely hated programming. Fast-forward ten years and I love it. The key to enjoying programming is simply understanding what you are doing, learn with me and I'll show you.

Lessons are laid out using professional teaching standards and the pace will be tailored to the student. The lessons will have you producing a functioning piece of code every lesson to solidify programming concepts. If you would like to learn games development in JavaScript, we will look at creating clones of popular 2D games. The work will be done on Replit.com so you will not have to install anything. I can also teach standard vanilla JavaScript if you just want to learn scripting. C# work can be done in Replit or Visual Studio. C# work can either be console-based programmes or Windows Presentation Forms programmes (if using Visual Studio). I teach up to A-level standard so I am happy to teach inexperienced and experienced programmers alike.
