About Thomas
I’m Thomas, a PPE student at the University of York with a strong interest in helping students build confidence in their academic work. I achieved a Grade 9 in English Literature and a Grade 8 in English Language at GCSE, and I have several years of experience supporting other students through Peer-Assisted Learning throughout secondary school and sixth form.
I take a patient and encouraging approach to tutoring, adapting sessions to each student’s strengths and areas for improvement. I particularly enjoy helping students develop their reading, writing and essay skills, and breaking down difficult topics into clear, manageable ideas.
My aim is not just to help students improve their grades, but to give them the confidence and skills to become more independent learners.

GCSE ENGLISH TUTORING
Hi, I’m Tom, a PPE student at the University of York.
I achieved a 9 in English Literature and an 8 in English Language at GCSE and I now offer tutoring for GCSE English, with a particular focus on reading and writing.
I can help with:
Reading and text analysis
Essay writing
Structuring answers
Developing arguments
Using quotations effectively
Exam technique and revision
I aim to make English easier to understand and help students become more confident in their own writing, rather than simply memorising model answers. I have several years of experience supporting other students through Peer-Assisted Learning sessions throughout secondary school and sixth form, helping students build confidence and improve their understanding.
