About Phil
I’m a passionate geographer and have been ever since I graduated many years ago. I love maps, exploring and understanding how places and spaces come to be what they are today. I’m committed to helping students understand what’s going on around them and communicate it impactfully in their written work. I like giving students extra insight into the history behind geographical phenomena, that they might not get from standard textbooks.

Tutoring with me builds a real connection between your geography topics and their roots in today’s key social, economic and environmental policy issues. You will benefit from a wide range of literature references from my extensive library, from the numerous articles that I have published, and from my perspective on how today’s geography topics have developed over the last 30 years. I’m straightforward, engaging and fun to talk to.
